The buffet will open at 9 a.m., and as we eat, Dr. Halsek will engage us in conversation about the new institute.
Fall Reception
Each fall, the Academy of Teaching hosts a reception for its members and invites an Ohio State administrator to speak about a topic related to teaching. The 2011 reception was held on October 17 and featured Vice Provost for Academic Planning, Dr. Mike Boehm, who discussed “Teaching and Learning Within the ‘One University’ Model.”
Conferences on Teaching
Beginning in May 2007, The Ohio State Academy of Teaching has offered a one–day seminar showcasing excellence in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL), through the best practices of its members. Each year the free seminar has been open to all faculty, graduate students, and staff who wanted to improve their instructional skills and learn more about the vital link between teaching excellence and scholarship.
This year’s conference will be held on Friday, May 11 and feature topics pertianing to teaching in semesters.
Additionally, UCAT offers many programs and events about teaching every quarter.
